Who are we kidding? We’re so busy doing holiday stuff – shopping, cooking, wrapping, driving, decorating, etc. – that it’s hard to imagine taking much time out for entertainment.
Ah, but, hey, don’t you deserve a bit of a break? Here are some things to see this weekend in the Garden Grove-Huntington Beach-Westminster area as we rush toward Christmas and the other end-of-the-year extravaganzas.
Movies: The Force is back in “The Last Jedi.”
Another Star War movie, with another long line at the cinema. “The Last Jedi” brings together old and new characters as The Resistance battles The First Order in this PG-13 space epic. Mark Hamill is back as a much older Luke Skywalker.
Also out this weekend is the animated “Fernando,” the story of a bull bred for fighting but with a sweet heart. Rated PG.
On Stage: Holiday classics redux
- “The Holiday Gem” wraps up at the Gem Theater on Main Street in Garden Grove this weekend with performances Friday through Sunday.
- “It’s A Wonderful Life,” a musical version of the classic Frank Capra film, continues on stage at the Rose Center Theater in Westminster. Shows are 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. on Sunday.
- “The Nutcracker Ballet” is at the Mainstage Theater at Golden West College in Huntington Beach through this weekend, with performances Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. and on Sunday at 2 p.m.
