New McD’s coming to The Promenade?

THE NEW LOOK McDonald’s restaurants (McDonalds Corp).

A brand new McDonald’s restaurant – replacing an existing one – may be coming to The Promenade center in Garden Grove.

On Thursday, May 2, the Garden Grove Planning Commission will consider an application to demolish the existing eatery at 9845 Chapman Ave. and replace it with a more modern facility.

The McDonald’s now at that location was built in the late 1970s and has not kept pace with the corporation’s contemporary architectural standards.

This new restaurant would be approximately the same footprint as the existing one, with new landscaping and a “double-queuing” drive-through lane.

If approved, this McD’s would be the latest in a series of renovations of this chain locally.  Replacement stores have been built at locations on Harbor Boulevard and Valley View Street in recent years.

The planning commission meets at 7 p.m. in the council chambers in the Community Meeting Center, 11300 Stanford Ave.

  1. That will be wonderful anything to improve our community and keep up with modern architect is beautification for our city. It’s to bad the In- and Out burger was not built on harbor. That Coco’s has been there as well as Bobs Big boy ever since I was a young child. So many residents that I know and they know wanted the In and Out. Coco’s is an eyesore in Garden Grove.
