OK, Los Angeles-Orange County baseball fans, how does this sound?
So far, the Dodgers are beginning to run away with the National League Western Division race.
And as of Friday night, the Los Angeles Angels are within a few percentage points of first place in the AL West.
The Angels defeated the San Diego Padres 8-0 in Anaheim, powered by 13 hits (including two homers) and a two-hit pitching performance by Jose Soriano, who is now 5-0 in the young season.
Nolan Schanuel was 3-for-5 and round-trippers were hit by Josh Lowe (his third) and Yoan Monada (also his third).
The win improved the Halos to 11-10, just a sliver (.550 to .524) behind the first place Texas Rangers (11-9).
Meanwhile, in Denver, the Blue Crew slammed the Colorado Rockies 7-1. Max Muncy hit two home runs (he’s got six) so far and three other Dodgers (including Shohei Ohtani) had two hits. As a team they had 13 hits.
Tyler Glasnow (2-0) pitched seven innings, giving up just two hits and one earned run. He stuck out seven Rockies (7-13).
The Dodgers are now 15-4 with the best record in Major League baseball. They lead the NL West by 2.5 games.
