A flag-raising and pinning ceremony will be held in Garden Grove on Monday, Nov. 11 in honor of Veteran’s Day.
The City of Garden Grove will hold the event – in conjunction with Rep. Lou Correa (D-Santa Ana) – from 8-9 a.m. in front of the city’s main fire station at 11261 Acacia Parkway.
The observance recognizes men and women who served in U.S armed forces. The pinning ceremony will include the presentation of a service pin to recognize Vietnam War veterans who were on active duty from Nov. 1, 1955 to May 15, 1975.

More housing coming to Stanton?
Proposals to build 10 more housing units will come before the Stanton City Council when it meets on Wednesday, Nov. 6.
The panel will conduct public hearings on
- the construction of six townhome units, a private driveway and common open space at 7320 Katella Ave., and
- the construction of four condominium units, a private driveway and common open space at 7162 Kenmore Lane.
The panel meets at 6:30 p.m. in the council chamber in City Hall, 7800 Katella Ave.
Electronic billboard goes to GG planners
The parade of electronic billboards along the Garden Grove Freeway could be getting longer.
At its meeting on Thursday, Nov. 7, the Garden Grove Planning Commission will conduct a public hearing on an application from Outfront Media to relocate two existing billboards and replace them with a two-sided electronic version at the southwest corner of Garden Grove Boulevard and Haster Street.
Also, planners will conduct a public hearing on a proposal to combine four lots on the south side of Stanford Avenue between Gilbert Street and Brookhurst Way into three to allow the construction of one house on each lot.
The commission meets at 7 p.m. in the council chambers in the Community Meeting Center, 11300 Stanford Ave.
