Record highs for COVID cases

NEW CORONAVIRUS cases in Orange County were reported Wednesday at 2,613. (Flickr).

Record number of new coronavirus cases, hospitalizations and patients in intensive care units were reported Wednesday (today) by the Orange County Health Care Agency.

According to the OCHCA, 2,613 new COVID-19 cases were tallied. That’s a sharp increase from 1,633 on Tuesday. The number of cases now hospitalized is at 974 (up from 946) and the count of coronavirus patients in intensive care units is at 239 (up from 235). There were no deaths, however.

For the Southern California Region, the adjusted figure on the availability is at 9 percent; the goal is better than 15 percent.

Here’s the list of OC cities with the most cases. Deaths are in parentheses.

  • Santa Ana: 17,998 (338)
  • Anaheim: 15,965 (353)
  • Garden Grove: 5,595 (118)
  • Fullerton: 4,479 (118)
  • Orange: 4,428 (75)
  • Huntington Beach: 3,875 (92).

Westminster has 2,815 cases and 34 deaths. Stanton has 1,142 cases and 18 deaths.
