Record high in COVID cases

A new record high for coronavirus cases was noted Sunday in the Orange County Health Care Agency’s daily report, as well as peaks in hospitalizations and patients in intensive care units for COVID-19 infections.

Sunday’s total of new cases was 4,606, compared to Saturday’s 3,445. Deaths declined to 15 from Saturday’s 26, but coronaviruses cases in hospitals rose from 1,601 on Saturday to 1,682 on Sunday.

Patients in intensive care units climbed from 361 to 375.

Here is a list of the OC cities with the most cases. Deaths are in parentheses.

  • Santa Ana: 24,543 (356)
  • Anaheim: 21,076 (381)
  • Garden Grove: 7,686 (127)
  • Orange: 5,981 (82)
  • Fullerton: 5,757 (129)
  • Huntington Beach: 5,008 (96)

Westminster has 3,200 cases and 38 deaths. Stanton has 1,563 cases and 22 deaths.
