A proposed agreement with the Huntington Beach Police Management Association calling for a 17 percent pay increase over three years goes before the Huntington Beach City Council when it convenes on Tuesday.
The deal calls for a salary increase for police management employees of 8 percent, retroactive to June 20, 2026. As of July 1, 2027, a base salary increase of 4 percent will kick in, and a 5 percent pay hike of 5 percent will be effective on July 1, 2028.
There will also be increases in the city’s contribution to employee benefits.
According to a city fiscal impact report, the first year impact on the city budget would be $406,620 and the total cost of the proposal is $971,641.
Labor agreements have been a focus at city hall because the city has been dipping into reserves to balance the budget.
Also on the agenda for Tuesday will be a request by Councilmember Chad Williams to the Finance Subcommittee of the Independence Day Celebration.
He wants a review of prior agreements, financial arrangements, governance practices and operational structures and a written report on findings and recommendations to the Finance Commission and then to the city council within 45 days of the adoption of the motion by the council.
The city council will meet at 4 p.m. in closed session with the regular meeting at 6 p.m. in the Council Chambers, 2000 Main St. (at Yorktown Avenue).
