A suspect has been arrested in the stabbing murder of a man last week on the Huntington Beach Pier.

According to Lt. Brian Smith of the HBPD, 25-year-old Joe Flores III of Anaheim has been jailed and is being held in lieu of $1 million bail.

The incident took place on May 5 at around 6:30 p.m. Police received reports of a stabbing at the pier and arriving officers found a 21-year-old man suffering from “multiple stab wounds.” He was treated at the scene by paramedics and taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange where he was pronounced dead.

In the vicinity of the pier, officers located the suspect and made the arrest. Investigators believe that the suspect “verbally accosted” the victim as he was walking on the pier. An altercation ensued and the victim was stabbed.

The HBPD is asking anyone who may have captured video of the incident, or who has direct knowledge of it to contact the police department’s tip line at (714) 375-5066.
