THE PACIFIC AIRSHOW over Huntington Beach will be accompanied by a two-day concert program near the city pier (File photo).
Strike up the band(s).
A “one-time pilot” music concert program to be held at the city beach in conjunction with the Great Pacific Airshow Oct. 1-2 was approved by the Huntington Beach City Council on Tuesday night.
The council’s approval came with certain conditions. They included:
- a cap on attendance for the concert at no more than 12,000 per evening;
- the event organizer would have to provide a full event security plan vetted and approved by the police department;
- full general liability and ABC liability insurance coverage would be required, and
- that there be direct payment for all city-provided services, including public safety costs, and institute a $5 per person charge to be paid by event promoter Code Four to offset direct administrative costs.
The motion to approve passed on a 6-0 vote (one council seat is vacant). Councilmember Erik Peterson noted that he was opposed to the final requirement.
