A car chase on the Garden Grove Freeway early Friday morning led to the arrest of a suspect from a previous incident of alleged assault on a peace officer.
According to the California Highway Patrol, at 12:40 a.m. Seal Beach police spotted a vehicle believed to be driven by a suspect involved in an earlier encounter. A motor pursuit followed with the fleeing automobile entering the freeway westbound and getting involved in a traffic accident near Valley View Street.
Officers seeking to arrest the driver were involved in a shooting, but no one was hurt. The motorist allegedly drove the car off the freeway where a second crash occurred in the area of Garden Grove Boulevard, west of Goldenwest Street where the Westminster and Garden Grove city limits meet.
The suspect – whose name was not disclosed – was taken into custody and taken to a nearby hospital for “medical clearance.” There were no injuries to the suspect or officers, according to the CHP.
