A bid for restoration of the fountain at the Central Library was rejected Tuesday night by Huntington Beach City Council.

The council voted 6-0 (with Erik Peterson absent) to turn thumbs down on a bid by California Waters Development, Inc. for $2,665,504.99 and to appropriate $2,110,430 from the infrastructure fund account.

Instead, the council directed staff to return at a later date with alternative, cost-efficient-options.

The Central Library is located in Central Park at Goldenwest Street and Talbert Avenue.

Also on Tuesday night, the council honored the Marina High School girls’ wrestling team for winning the 2022 CIF-SS Central Division Championship.

The next meeting of the council is set for Tuesday, April 5 at 4 p.m
