Sandra L. Verdugo, a self-employed real estate specialist, was appointed to the city’s Public Safety Committee by the Stanton City Council on Tuesday night.

Verdugo wrote in her application for the committee that “Stanton is a beautiful community and is very diverse. We represent all of the United States with a wide range of cultures, dialects and places to eat. I feel I can be a positive force and example to this community where people can feel safe to make Stanton their home.”

Stanton does not have its own municipal police force, but instead contracts with the Orange County Sheriff’s Department for police services. The Orange County Fire Authority provides fire and paramedic services.
