Vice President Kamala Harris struck back Friday at the comments made in the special counsel’s report on President Joe Biden’s handling of classified documents.
Robert Hur said that while Biden “willfully” made classified information available to unauthorized people, it didn’t warrant a criminal complaint. He did add that Biden, 81, had a “poor” and “hazy” memory.
Harris struck back that Hur’s comments were “gratuitous” and “politically motivated.” Hur was appointed to a U.S. Attorney’s post by former president Donald Trump.
The two men likely to be nominated by the major parties are both elderly men; Biden and former president Donald Trump, who is 77 years old.
Aid to Ukraine and Israel revived
A $95 billion emergency national security measure to aid Ukraine and Israel is moving forward in the U.S. Senate.
An earlier compromise bill died in the House of Representatives as some Republicans – including former president Donald Trump – tried to further toughen the border security measures tied to the bill.
The bill is expected to pass the Senate where Democrats have a slender majority with a few Republicans supporting it as well. Its chances are weaker in the House where the GOP has a slight edge.
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (New York) said a few “reasonable” amendments to win passage would be acceptable.
Jet crashes onto Fla. interstate
An emergency landing by a small plane onto a Florida interstate highway took the lives of at least two people on Friday.
Both engines on the plane failed and it crashed – with five people on board – near a highway exit in Collier County. Debris and fire from the crash compelled the closure of Interstate Highway 75.
The airplane was on its way from Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio to the airport in Naples, Florida. It crashed at around 3:10 p.m. Florida time.
In addition to the plane, at least two motor vehicles were involved in the crash.
