FAYE is rescued from the wall of a Garden Grove home by the Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA photo).
Firefighters are legendary for getting cats out of trees, but a team from the Orange County Fire Authority showed they also know how to rescue a dog from inside a wall.
On Sunday, a Garden Grove family called on the OCFA to help get their 2-year-old dog Faye out from inside the wall of their house where the pooch had gone exploring and got stuck.
Station 81, based in Garden Grove responded and found that Fay had entered the innards of the home through a small utility door and become stuck under a bathtub.
Treats and entreaties didn’t work, but the efforts of the OCFA did. Using the thermal imaging, the dog’s precise location was discovered. A hammer broke open the dry wall and eventually Faye was able to walk into the light, unharmed.
“That’s the beauty of this job,” said firefighter Hector Jimenez. “Every day it’s something different and we come together as a team, come up with a plan and get the job done.”
