The high school baseball and softball seasons are over, but the honors keep rolling in for certain star teams and athletes.
The Anaheim-based Orange County Register has named Pacifica’s Brynne Nally “Pitcher of the Year” for Orange County.
She helped lead the Mariners to their second straight CIF-SS Division 1 championship.
Nally posted a 22-2 record and an earned run average of 0.99.
Her Pacifica team finished 27-2 and was ranked third in the nation and first in California.
Also named to the all-county team were Delaina Ma’ae (Pacifica, catcher) and Kaniya Bragg (Pacifica, infielder). The second team included Zoe Prystaijko (pitcher, Huntington Beach) and Mattea Stern (Pacifica, outfielder).
The Los Angeles Times has named Kaniya Bragg the “Player of the Year” for its coverage area. She hit eight home runs and batted .431 while playing strong defense for the Mariners.
Also named to the Times’ all-star team was teammate Brynne Nally (Pacifica).
The Times’ baseball all-star team included outfielder Trevor Goldenetz of Huntington Beach, who batted .391 for the Oilers.
