LEAGUE PLAY is underway for local high school basketball teams (Shuttetstock).

League play is finally underway for most West Orange County basketball teams, and some key matches are already looming.

In the Sunset League, Los Alamitos and Corona del Mar are off to fast starts with 3-0 records and will clash on Wednesday in the Griffin gym in boys’ hoops.

Los Al is 10-5 overall while CDM is 17-2.

Edison (2-1, 12-7) will host Newport Harbor (2-2, 14-6), while Huntington Beach (0-4, 10-10) will visit Marina (0-3, 12-7).

The Orange Coast League has barely started, with Katella (1-0, 10-5) on top. Locals are Garden Grove at (0-0, 11-8) and Ocean View at (0-1, 4-15).

Grove will host Katella on Wednesday, then visit the Seahawks on Friday.

Pacifica (15-6) opened its North Hills League schedule on Tuesday defeating El Modena (7-13) by 42-29.

Two former Garden Grove League rivals – Bolsa Grande (3-14) and La Quinta (10-11) – met Tuesday in the Aztec gym, with the Aztecs winning 56-37.

On the girls’ side, Pacifica (6-13) also made its North Hills debut at El Modena, winning 42-29.

Marina (2-2, 10-9) defeated Huntington Beach (2-2, 11-7) by 61-41 and Edison (0-3, 3-15) hosted Newport Harbor (0-4, 7-12). In the Orange Coast League, Ocean View visited Rancho Alamitos and Garden Grove lost 40-28 to Costa Mesa.
