In the wake of U.S. bombing raids Saturday on suspected nuclear development sites in Iran, the White house cautioned against any “escalation” of the conflict by the Iranian government.
The Associated Press exported that the Trump Administration also was willing to renew negotiations with Iran. However, Iran – through its ambassador – criticized the “warmongering U.S. regime.”
In Tehran, the Iranian capital, the government announced it would chose the time and method of its retaliation against the U.S. and Israel.
Israel and Iran exchange air strikes
In response to Israeli air strikes, Iran unleashed its bombers against Israel on Sunday, according to United Press International.
Targets struck in Israel included the port city of Tel Aviv, which was the de facto capital of that nation for many years.
Vice President J.D. Vance, appearing on the NBC News “Meet the Press” program, said “We’re not at war with Iran. We’re at war with Iran’s nuclear program.”
Angels fall to Astros; Dodgers slam Nats
Two four-run rallies by the Houston Astros were enough to overcome late scores by the Los Angeles Angeles as the visitors prevailed 8-7 in Anaheim.
Trailing 8-5 after six innings, the Halos scored once in the seventh on a Nolan Schanuel single and again in the ninth on a solo home run by Zach Neto.
With the loss, the Angels are 37-40 and remain in fourth place in the American League West.
Shohei Ohtani had a stellar game on Sunday against the Washington Nationals. He pitched a perfect first inning – with two strikeouts and at bat hit a home run and a triple, driving in five runs as the Blue Crew prevailed 13-7.
Max Muncy shone as well, hitting two home runs – one of them a grand slam — and finished with seven RBIs.
The Dodgers (48-31) lead the National League West by 3.5 games over the San Francisco Giants.
