Promising to “finish the job” and completely defeat Hamas, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday said that the new military offensive in Gaza will be wider than previously announced.
The Associated Press is reporting that the military will seek to not only eliminate Hamas strongholds in Gaza City but to do the same to other such camps in the Gaza area.
Currently, the areas cited are also the location of over 500,000 refugees from the fighting between the Israeli military and Hamas militias.
While Netanyahu has promised the establishment of “safe zones,” such areas have been hit by bombs in the past.
Whose maps are better?
The system that California uses to draw congressional and other legislative districts hasn’t made Republicans happy, but what comes next could be worse for the GOP.
According to The New York Times, Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom’s proposal to redraw California’s maps to offset the “gerrymandered” proposal for Texas would leave them with fewer seats in Congress than at present.
In an effort to shore up the slim Republican edge in the U.S. House of Representatives, Texas’s large Republican majority is seeking to re-district and eliminate several Democratic-held seats.
But California and Illinois – where Democrats are in control – may turn the tables and eliminate GOP-held seats, potentially giving liberals control of the House. That’s crucial because all spending bills must originate in the lower house and it revives the possibility of a third impeachment of President Donald Trump.
