Mike Trout’s bat continued to come alive as he sparked a five-run barrage in Yankee Stadium that led the Los Angeles Angels to a 7-1 win over the New York Yankees.

Trout’s first inning homer followed two on Sunday, giving him round-trippers in three consecutive at-bats. Also going deep for the Halos were Joe Adell, Jorge Solor, Oscar Peraza and Yoan Moncada.

That gave the Angels a 9-9 record, good for third in the American League West, a half-game behind the Athletics and Texas Rangers.

Reid Detmers (1-1) pitched well, finishing seven innings in which he yielded just four hits and one earned run. He struck out nine Yankees and walked none.

Back on the West Coast, the Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Mets were locked in a low-scoring game, finally decided 2-1 in favor of the Blue Crew in the eighth on a single by Kyle Tucker that drove in Miguel Rojas.

But the real hero of the game for the Dodgers was Yoshinbu Yamamoto (2-1), who at one point retired 20 Mets in a row. He ended up working 7.2 innings, giving up just four hits and one earned run.

He struck out seven batters and walked one. His ERA is now at 2.10.
