Mike Trout, who started slowly out of the gate this 2026 baseball season, has found the right gear.

In Thursday’s 7-4 win by the Los Angeles Angels over the New York Yankees in the Big Apple, he hit his seventh home run of the season and helped boost the Halos to splitting a four-game series.

With the victory, the Orange County team is 10-10 and in third place in the American League West, a half-game out of the lead.
Trout’s seventh-inning homer places him second among all MLB hitters.

Although his batting average is a relatively modest .246, his on-base percentage is .416 and his OPS (on-base, plus slugging– which refers to extra base hits) is a stratospheric 1.010.

Of course, the Angels didn’t win just on Trout’s performance. Jo Adell batted 2-for-4 with a home run and walk, driving in four runs and scoring three runs.

Oswald Peraza was also 2-for-4 with a double, a home run, a walk and three runs batted in.

The Angels will come home on Friday to start a three-game series with the San Diego Padres, followed by three against the Toronto Blue Jays.
