Long-overdue renovations for the building that houses police services for the city of Stanton are on their way.
On the agenda for Tuesday’s meeting of the Stanton City Council is official acceptance of a $1 million grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to upgrade the facility in the civic center at 11100 Cedar St.
The structure dates back to when Stanton had its own police station. Police services are now supplied by the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.
Work included will be a new sewer line connection, interior walls and flooring restoration, ceiling tiles restoration, entrance door replacement, patio pergola removal, interior and exterior painting, restrooms renovation and roof replacement,
Also on the agenda is approval of a construction contract worth $12,898,397 to Act 1 Construction for the Norm Ross Sports Park improvement project located north of the Civic Center and close to Beach Boulevard.
The original design, approved in August 2022, called for a community building, a water play area, playground, skate park, Little League baseball field with an under-12 soccer field, a perimeter walkway, picnic area, dog park, basketball court and exercise equipment.
The first round of bidding found all six proposals rejected. The project was rebid “with a reduced scope of work.”
The council meets at 6:30 p.m. in City Hall, 7800 Katella Ave.

No matter what it is a refresh of a police station or a rail road or a fast railin Ca , it shouldn’t come out of tax payers pocket or a US grant , it come out of the pockets of those that propose it and say is needed . So if a new road is needed the people in that area pay for it , if the Police need a new station , they pay and build it out of their paycheck’s , not from the people that are being forced to pay an Illegal tax !!!
