The future of the Rose Center in Westminster may be decided on Wednesday when the city council considers which – if any – of the top “proposers” to become the new operators will be chosen to take over as management of the facility as a “multi-cultural” center.
The council will meet at 6 p.m. in its chambers at 8200 Westminster Blvd.
Ranked by a committee as the top-four were Latin-Asian Hospitality Group, Friends of the Rose Center (the current operator), TLC.Inc. and Coffee Whipped.
Latin-Asian scored 43, followed by Friends (22), TLC (21) and Coffee (21).
Leading the pack was Latin-Asian, located in Campbell, a city in Northern California south of San Francisco. It advertises Asian-fusion food and – from its website – operates a restaurant, food trucks and catering services.
Campbell is a diverse city with some similarities to Westminster. The 2020 U.S. Census indicates the city has 24.1 percent Asian population and 19.2 percent Hispanic or Latino.
The Rose Center, opened in 2006, includes a 419-seat theater and additionally space that can be used for conferences, meetings, parties, etc.
The current operators contract runs out at the end of 2026.
