Corona cases rise, deaths down

The number of new cases of coronavirus in Orange County reported on Friday rose, but deaths declined.

According the county health care agency, today’s tally showed 309 new infections, up from 271 on Thursday. Fatalities tied to COVID-19 fell from nine on Thursday to three on Friday.

So far, Orange County has 61,421 coronavirus cases and 1,503 deaths.

On Friday, 177 hospitalizations are listed, compared to 178 on Thursday. Cases in intensive care units are at 72, down from 76 the day before.

Here is a list of Orange County cities that have the most cases. Deaths are in parentheses.

  • Santa Ana: 11,803 (319)
  • Anaheim: 10.492 (326)
  • Garden Grove: 3,378 (111)
  • Orange: 2,832 (72)
  • Huntington Beach: 2,695 (86).

Westminster has 1,209 cases and 32 deaths. Stanton has 737 cases and 17 deaths.

On the international and national levels, Johns Hopkins University today reported 49,195,581 global cases, with 8,411,724 of those in the United States. There have been 1,241,366 deaths, of which 236,025 are in the U.S.
