COVID-19 cases still declining

The number of new confirmed cases of coronavirus in Orange County dipped again in Thursday’s report from the county health care agency.

According to the OCHCA, cases dropped from 51 on Wednesday to 37 on Thursday, one of the lowest tallies since the pandemic took hold last spring. Deaths ticked up from three to four.

Hospitalizations due to the virus increased from 70 to 75 and patients being treated for COVID-19 in intensive care units rose from 15 to 22.

Cases to date in Orange County now number 254,919, of which 248,338 are considered recovered. Deaths are at 5,083.

At the national level, cases are down 35 percent over the last two weeks, according to The New York Times. The NYT also notes a 13 percent decline in deaths.

In California, cases are down 21 percent over the previous 14 days, and deaths have dropped 46 percent, reports the Los Angeles Times.
