Conflict to shift to Lebanon?

The “current phase” of fighting in Gaza against Hamas militants could be “winding down,” said Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday, but another war in Lebanon could follow.

Those comments came in a television interview in which he said while there was no end in sight in the Gaza conflict, the situation was improved to the degree that more troops could be shifted to fight Hezbollah, a militant group in Lebanon on Israel’s northern border.

Such a transfer would allow displaced Israeli citizens to return to their homes, the prime minister said.

Hezbollah has stepped up its attacks on Israel in recent days and weeks and the threat of a wider Mideast war has been raised.
