All across the West Orange County cities, efforts will be made to curb the possession and use of dangerous illegal fireworks this 4th of July weekend and encourage the proper enjoyment of legal “Safe and Sane” fireworks.

Any pyrotechnic that doesn’t have the state fire marshal’s seal of approval is illegal. Any firework that is modified or used to become airborne is illegal.

This year, some cities are employing drone coverage to spot violators.
Here are the details, city by city.

Garden Grove: Fine of $1,000 for use/possession of illegal fireworks. Safe and sane fireworks may be discharged legally only from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., on July 4 (Friday) and only on private property. No parks, no streets, no sidewalks.

Huntington Beach: It’s legal to use “safe and sane” fireworks only on Friday, July 4 from noon to 10 p.m. There’s a $500 fine for violations. No discharges on beach, or any area on the ocean side of Pacific Coast Highway. Use of legal fireworks on your residential street permitted.

Stanton: Now has a social host ordinance which holds property owners, tenants or individuals in control of a property “strictly liable” for the illegal sale, storage or discharge of fireworks on premises. Fines are $1000 for first offense, $2000 for second offense.
