Five law enforcement agencies – including the Westminster Police department – combined to find and arrest a man accused of intentionally ramming a car full of children in an incident near Westminster Mall on Oct. 4.
According to WPD records, arrested and booked was Oscar Hernandez Jimenez, 33 of Santa Ana.
The incident began when a woman called WPD to report that her ex-boyfriend had deliberately rammed her car – in which “multiple children” were riding – with his own vehicle.
Determining that this was assault with a deadly weapon and felony child endangerment, police took down the suspect’s name and vehicle description and put out a countywide alert.
Cypress police officers spotted the vehicle and the suspect and with the help of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, La Palma police and the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department, took him into custody.
The suspect was booked into Orange County Jail in Santa Ana on multiple charges including assault with a deadly weapon and willful cruelty to a child likely to produce great bodily injury or death.
