Partial return of U.S. food aid

FOOD AID will be partially renewed despite the government shutdown (Shutterstock).

Partial funding of the SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, which began as “food stamps”) will resume, it was announced on Monday by the U.S. Department of Agriculture,

The Associated Press reported that it was uncertain how much each recipient would receive or when it would show up on the debit cards used to purchase groceries.

The announcement that SNAP would at last partially fund payments to one of eight Americans came after two federal judges required that the food program be continued.

Money for the program will come from the federal government’s emergency reserves. The crisis is a consequence of the government shutdown resulting from a Senate deadlock on the budget.

U.S. invasion of Nigeria threatened

Will the United States launch a military attack against the African nation of Nigeria?

According to The New York Times, President Trump issued that threat on Sunday in possible response to the killing of Christians by Muslim terrorists.

“If the Nigerian Government continues to allow the killing of Christians, the USA will stop all aid and assistance to Nigeria, and may very well go into that disgraced country, ‘guns-a-blazing,’ to completely wipe out the Islamic terrorists who are committing these horrible atrocities,” he posted.
