Stanton Mayor David Shawver can put his campaign signs back in the garage.
The long-serving presiding officer of the Stanton City Council will be serving four more years without having to run a campaign this November.
On Tuesday, the council voted 3-0 (with councilmembers Gary Taylor and John Warren absent) to cancel the Nov. 3 mayoral election because Shawver was the only candidate nominated.
Elections for other seats on the council will proceed as scheduled.
