A 26-year-old motorcyclist is dead and a 47-year-old driver is in jail after a fatal traffic collision Sunday. The incident occurred in Huntington Beach on Sunday and the arrest and death on Monday.
According to Motor Officer Eric Warken of the HBPD, it all started on June 30 at about 6:13 p.m. when officers responded to the area of Pacific Coast Highway and 10th Avenue regarding a collision between an automobile and a cyclist.
Arriving officers found a blue 2016 Harley Davidson lying on its side on the roadway. The rider was located nearby on PCH. The victim was a 26-year-old man from Los Alamitos who had sustained major trauma and was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange.
The driver of the automobile fled the scene, according to Sgt. Warken. Officers found a vehicle a short distance away – a gray 2006 Toyota Solara – with damage to the right rear end. On Monday at about 3:30 p.m. the driver was located and arrested. He is Julien Solorzano of Monrovia. He was booked for felony hit-and-run.
The motorcyclist died three hours later, at 6:39 p.m.
