A student from La Quinta High School has been chosen to serve as the student representative on the Board of Education of the Garden Grove Unified School District for the 2023-24 school year.

Emily Nguyen has a lot of leadership experience at LQHS. She is currently student body president, secretary to the campus chapter of the National Honor Society and treasurer of La Quinta Together.

Additionally, she is a member of the California Scholastic Federation and the UNICEF Club. Nguyen feels strongly about inclusivity and “has a heart for students with special needs.” She played an important role in the La Quinta Unified Physical Education Program in which people of different levels of physical ability participate in athletics together.

Emily was presented to the school board at its meeting on Tuesday by Stephanie Heflin, assistant superintendent for secondary education.
