The Los Angeles Angels began the “second half” of the 2025 MLB season with a stirring come-from-behind 6-5 win over the Philadelphia Phillies on Friday night at Citizens Bank Park.

With the win, the Halos move back within a game of .500 at 48-49 and stay a half-game behind the third place Texas Rangers. Also, the Angels remain in the American League wild card race at just 3.5 games back.

After falling behind 4-1 in early going, the Angels caught up and scored what proved to be the winning run in the top of the seventh on Taylor Ward’s two-run home run. It was his 22nd round-trip of the season.

Other Angels going deep were Jorge Soler (his 11th) and Jo Adell (10th).

Back at Chavez Ravine, the Los Angeles Dodgers went the other way, mustering only three hits in a 2-0 loss to the Milwaukee Brewers.

The Blue Crew was pretty much hand-cuffed by Quinn Priester (8-2), who worked six shutout innings and struck out 10 batters while walking none,

Getting the hits for LAD were Freddie Freeman (a double) and Will Smith and Hyeseong Kim (both singles).
With the loss, the Dodgers are 58-40 and lead the National League West by 4.5 games over the San Diego Padres.
