There are a lot of good strategies to win a baseball game, but probably the best is to get your hits when you have runners on base.
On Friday night, the Los Angeles Angels outhit the visiting Toronto Blue Jays six to three, but batted zero for five with runners in scoring position en route to a 2-0 defeat,
The Jays scored two runs in the third for the games’ only runs. The star for Toronto was Dylan Cease (3-1) who worked seven innings, yielding five hits, striking out 10 batters and walking none.
The Angels’ starter Reid Detmers (1-3) had a rough start, lasting just 3.2 innings, giving up just two hits and two runs but walked six Blue Jays.
At bat, Jo Adell had the only good night, going 2-for-3 with a double,
The loss dropped the Halos to 15-24, good for fifth place in the American League West, one game back of the fourth place Houston Astros.
The Angels and Blue Jays will continue their series on Saturday.
Dodgers 3, Braves 1: Freddie Freeman hit his 100th home run as a Los Angeles Dodger and did it Friday against former team, the Atlanta Braves at Chavez Ravine.
That homer, his fourth of the year, helped the Blue Crew maintain a one-game lead in the National League West over the San Diego Padres. The Dodgers were outhit nine to five but still prevailed.
Leadoff batter Shohei Ohtani is continuing to play as a mortal, getting just one hit in four at-bats (.248 so far in 2026) but drove in a run.
No Dodger had more than one hit.
Emmet Sheehan made the start for LAD, going 4.2 innings while giving up six hits and walking just one batter. He stuck out seven Atlanta players.
The teams will meet again on Saturday.
