The Garden Grove City Council met Tuesday night and powered through a light agenda, and offered some advice to Gov. Gavin Newsom.

An urgency item added to the agenda toward the end of the meeting was sending a letter to the governor urging him to make possible the re-opening of the Disney Resort in Anaheim.

About 8,000 jobs in Garden Grove are tied to the tourism created by the huge amusement complexes of Disneyland Park and Disney’s California Adventure, the council was told.

A motion to send the letter was approved on a 7-0 vote.

Also approved were:

  • rejection of all bids and approval to readvertise an invitation for bids for the renovation of Garden Grove Park.
  • adoption of a resolution approving the submittal of an application to the Orange County Transportation Authority for the construction phase of the Euclid/Westminster Intersection Improvement Project;
  • awarding a contract to G4S Secure Solutions (USA) for civilian jail contract services, with a three-year contract with total cost of $3,182,944.

  1. They need to open Disneyland slot of jobs in Anihem and in Garden Grove are hurting I would love to go to Disneyland when it opens

  2. Do not open Disneyland
    You can put out the fires by use of military helicopters with a bucket let’s jump on this people are losing everything and we’re worried about opening Disneyland get the fire out and then will tackle the next one
    Disneyland it’s all about money with the fires it’s about lives

  3. Disneyland is a popular entity that will attract crowds (and their germs) from both the local and global community. This seems counterproductive to the effort of opening up our GGUSD schools, in which both families and teachers are worried for their safety. This push to open Disneyland is poorly timed, especially with the GGUSD’s recent decision to delay reopening of our local schools. The city should be focusing on support for safely reopening our schools, before reopening Disneyland.
