A sad outcome, but good game

RAMS FANS aren’t doing somersaults over the loss to the Lions, but it was an outstanding game (Brevin Townsell/Rams photo).

Oh, let them have one.

The Detroit Lions’ fan base has been suffering for so long that it only seems fair that – despite our local loyalties – their team finally (played in and ) won an NFL playoff game.

Sure, the Los Angeles Rams had their own reason for feeling like after a 3-6 start, their red-hot drive to the playoffs gave them enough karma to not be on the losing end of a 24-23 game.
But, hey, Lions fans were so desperate that Eminem – the first great White rapper and now a middle-aged guy – begged in a video “Let us have this one!”

Both teams played exceptionally well in a dramatic setting and there was much bon homie between the two teams after it was over. What more do you want from entertainment?
Of course, if one were to nit-pick one might point out a no-call on a crucial pass play when a Lion DB had a hold of a Rams’ receiver’s jersey tail like he was trying to steal it, but let’s not be petty.

I mean, nearly every pass play involves somebody on the offensive line grabbing or holding or other wise illegally obstructing the defensive rush. If every grabbed jersey were to be spotted and called, we’d would have been watching a scoreless game in quadruple overtime deep into Monday morning.

Any Rams’ fans with frowny faces can take comfort from the fact(s) that a) Matthew Stafford is playing great and will return for 2024, b) Puka Nacua is a breakout rookie of the year, c) the young offensive line is playing very well and d) the Rams’ owner isn’t Arte Moreno.

Let’s count our blessings and count down until it’s time next season to give Detroit some payback.
