The gold standard in law enforcement.

Once again, the Garden Grove PD has earned that status after passing a rigorous examination to become re-accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies.

CALEA certification means a law enforcement agency meets 484 standards that prove it follows national best practices. Only 10 percent of the country’s PDs qualify for CALEA certification.

ggpdIn 1988, the Garden Grove PD became one of the first law enforcement agencies in the country to become accredited by CALEA.

“The Garden Grove Police Department is very proud of its CALEA award and it is a testament to the fine work of the men and women of the Garden Grove Police Department,” said Sgt. Jim Colegrove, the GGPD’s CALEA accreditation supervisor.

The GGPD formally was re-accredited by CALEA in late July at a conference in Baltimore.

The re-accreditation is good for four years. The GGPD’s next onsite assessment is set for March 2020.
