Friday coronavirus up to 683

CORONAVIRUS cases in Orange County on Friday hit 638 (Shutterstock).

Friday’s total of new COVID-19 cases reported to the Orange County Health Care Agency is 683, up from 348 the day before. There were 20 deaths, down from 24 the day before. The new to-date total for Orange County cases is 42,854, of which 33,697 are judged recovered. The death toll is 789.

The test positivity rate is 7.2 percent, an improvement from 7.6 the day before and below the threshold or goal of 8 percent. “Positivity” refers to that portion of people who are tested who end up being positive for the coronavirus, regardless of symptoms.

Here is the list of the OC cities with the most cases. Deaths are in parentheses.

  • Santa Ana: 8,362 (204).
  • Anaheim: 7,306 (184).
  • Garden Grove: 2,323 (37).
  • Orange: 1,967 (29).
  • Huntington Beach: 1,898 (56)

Westminster has 794 cases and 20 deaths; Stanton has 531 cases and eight deaths.
