Dodgers light it up in win over Arizona; Angels go quietly

Fans of fireworks got their money’s worth on Friday night at Chase Field and we don’t mean the kind you shoot off on the fourth of July.

The Los Angeles Dodgers and Arizona Diamondback combined for 25 runs, and 26 hits and the Blue Crew finally came out ahead with a 14-11 victory.

Trailing 11-8 going into the ninth, the Dodgers erupted for six runs to retake the lead and the victory. Shohei Ohtani led the charge with a 4-for-6 night, slapping two doubles. a three-run home run (his 12th of the season) and a single.

Enrique Hernandez was 3-for-5 with a double and a home run. He drove in two runs and scored three runs.

With the win, the Dodgers are 26-13 and lead the NL West by a ame over the San Diego Padres,

The on-and-off offense of the Los Angeles Angels was in the off-position again on Friday night as they managed just four hits in a 4-1 loss to the Baltimore Orioles in Anaheim.

Yoan Moncada’s triple in the bottom of the seventh, followed by Taylor Ward’s sacrifice fly drove in the only Halo run, as the team lost its 10th game in 13 tries. The record slipped to 15-22, still in fifth and last place in the American League West and seven games out of first.

The Orioles are 14-23 and in fifth and last place in the AL East.

Kyle Hendricks (1-4) made the start for the home team. He lasted five innings, giving up six hits and three earned runs.

The two teams will play again on Saturday.
